Well the kiddies loved it!! We took them on Saturday to the swimming pool complete with two water slides and a load of "rides" for them to go on and they really enjoyed themselves. I am very relieved to tell you that there were no accidents - I was a bit worried after the football field incident.
So we got there and they were all a bit nervous because most of them had never even seen a swimming pool before, we rented some swimsuits for them and in they went. They soon figured out the splashing eachother in the face game and managed to soak me even though I was about ten metres from the pool edge. After that we persuaded them to go on the slides but they were so scared they were coming down at such a slow speed (screaming all the way) that I had to go up to stop the older kids from beating them because they were clogging up the whole queue...!
Jon basically spent the entire time running around throwing everyone in the water relentlesly until Rajindra started crying and then he remembered we were playing with 7 and 8 year olds rather than his 6 foot friends at home!! We literally had to drag them out of the water after a couple of hours and get them changed so we could go on the rides. These rides bring a whole new meaning to the term "death trap" I can tell you. Precariously balanced seats with no harnesses ten feet in the air on contraptions spinning as fast as the poor guy can run around in a circle at the bottom... I had to close my eyes and I wasn't even riding them. But the kids absolutely loved it so we were all smiling but very tired by the end of the day. It is amazing how little it takes to make the kids smile and it really breaks your heart when they do. Today we told them we are leaving on Friday and they got really mad with us.. I just wonder how many volunteers in the past and in the future will have to say the same things each time they get close to us we have to leave. So this morning was quite sad for me as I really felt like we were letting them down. What can you do..?
Aside from that I have to tell you that I am very depressed for a different (and altogether very silly reason). Today I was supposed to get my hair cut and straightened which I have not stopped talking about all week to everyone and anyone that would listen. Anyway when I got there this morning they told me they couldn't do it as my hair might go frizzy.. I can't believe how disapointed I was (and still am). I think it is because I have not thought about my appearance since I got here as there really is no point and then when one of the girls offered to take me I just got so excited at the prospect of looking nice for once that I got a bit carried away.. anyway I know how ridiculous it is to write this in the same email as I am talking about leaving my poor kiddies and I am expecting you all to laugh at me but I am so upset I had to write it anyhow!!! ha ha
It is raining again today so I am full of doom and gloom the emails aren't working and I am covered in mud grumble grumble.. I will try to be in a better mood next week. Well I had better cheer up by Thursday as our friend Timmy Tim Tim is coming to visit from home and we have loads of cool stuff to do with him and also he comes bearing gifts from home from our parents. hmmm we will see...
