Just a short one today...

This week is the last week of our teaching for a while we have found out that the students have exams for the next two weeks and then we are leaving for Phokara after that. It's a bit of a shame because we were just getting into the swing of things but it's ok because we can go to a different orphanage in the afternoons and help out there. We have been quite lucky with our orphanage the children all go to school have a nice house and are well educated. This is not the case with a lot of the orphanages in Nepal. Many have huge numbers of children with little funding and the children suffer because of it. The organisation that we are working for deals with orphanages like these and we are going to be in for a bit of a shock when we arrive I think. I have heard stories of beatings, children defacating on the floor and no one coming to clean it up, children suffering from skin conditions, children suffering from most illnesses in fact... etc you get the picture.

In one of our braver moments we offered to take the orphans swimming... I am not sure if any of them have ever been swimming so I am hoping that they will all stay calm enough to not drown!! We are currently trying to recruit back up from the other volunteers but so far noone has come forward!!

The weather is ridiculously hot the monsoon appears to have finished, it rained solidly for 3 weeks and now the sun will not stop shining I am so hot I am melting. Another problem with the heat is the bugs but I won't go into that cockroaches the size of my arm and all that..

Also we have made some Nepali mates at the climbing wall that we have been hanging out with. That is quite nice because they know all the great places to go in the city that are not for tourists. Last week we went for dinner we ordered two quarter bottles of whiskey, six main dishes and some cokes and the bill came to around $5!! On friday we are going to spend the day climbing with them and the sight seeing the Napali way and after that a party.. they have promised that things are going to get crazy.. we'll see!
